A Sense of Place: Designing Gardens with Impact

The Garden Design Group of British Columbia was pleased to present our second annual garden design public lecture event featuring renowned UK garden designer Emily Erlam.

Emily Erlam has been a practicing landscape designer since 2008 after completing her training at London College of Garden Design and The English Gardening School. She has developed schemes for some inspirational clients who have built new houses or renovated old buildings.

Whatever the project, Emily believes the same methods of work apply: genuine sensitivity to the existing landscape while respecting the integrity of the buildings. ‘This is what enables us to design a garden which is harmonious, and with that invariably comes beauty.’

Her previous career in television and ongoing passion for architecture has assisted in the visual language of her design. In each space she endeavors to create a unique sense of place. Emily runs a small practice in Clerkenwell, London and works with a range of specialist collaborators and international suppliers.
